The G0704 Deluxe Spindle Kit Belt Drive, Spacer and Power Drawbar Kit is a major upgrade for your Grizzly G0704 benchtop milling machine. It offers several improvements that will transform your mill into a small production work horse. Below are the key benefits of this update:

User Supplied Requirements:
- 1800rpm Inverter Duty, 4 pole, 143TC, 145TC or 56C 3ph AC Motor, 1.0 – 1.5hp recommended
- Select your motors shaft diameter of 5/8″ or 7/8″ at checkout
- Shop air between 90-150psi (the higher the better of this range for heavy cutting)
- Any and all motor controller (VFD) and wiring for connecting the user supplied motor
Recommended Components NOT included in this kit:
- 3/4in TTS Collet for use with TTS Style Tool Holders (offered separately in our webstore)
- Nachi Precision Tapered Roller Spindle Bearings (offered separately in our webstore)
- Kluber Isoflex 15 NBU High temp spindle bearing grease for the above bearings
- Any Tools required for installing the kit and other upgrades.

How long until my kit ships?
Kits ship 2–3 business days after your order — each one gets checked over before it goes out. Probes and accessories usually ship next business day. Everything ships from our shop in Rocky Point, North Carolina.
Will it fit my mill?
The kit fits the Grizzly G0704 and any rear-mounted-column variant of the same machine. Not sure what you have? Send a photo through the contact page and I’ll confirm fitment before you spend a dime.
How hard is the installation?
Plan on about a full day if you’re mechanically inclined — or a relaxed weekend if you like to take your time. The kit comes with the complete step-by-step manual (download it above), and you won’t be doing it alone: I’m always available to my customers and known for going above and beyond — phone, Facebook Messenger, even real-time photos and video while you’re at the machine. If you get stuck, we get you unstuck.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes — kits have gone to Canada and overseas without issue. Fair warning: at 40+ lbs, international freight isn’t cheap. Exact rates for your address are calculated at checkout.

Superior Quality with Amazing Service
I purchased the G0704 Deluxe Spindle Power Upgrade Kit (with Spindle bearing upgrade) and added the Leeson 1hp 3ph motor as suggested by Chris and have absolutely NO regrets. This is a MUST HAVE upgrade for the G0704. The extended “Y” capacity is truly a game changer and the new 3ph belt driven spindle setup makes this mill plow through material with little effort compared to the stock motor and those loud plastic gears. I now have full spindle control through Mach4 with proper feeds and speeds while machining. The Power Drawbar is a total dream, I cant believe what a time saver this is.
The complete retrofit took me 3 full days but that included a complete rebuild of all the electronics, drivers, VFD, and smoothstepper + MB3 breakout board.
The design and quality of Chris’s products are second to none. Everything was very securely packaged for shipping and the parts came to me in perfect condition with mirror like finishes on all of the machined parts. Everything bolted together perfectly and all of the parts included were very high quality.
Chris was always there to guide me through the process and had a ton of hints and tricks to make the process smooth. He took a lot of time reciprocating emails and links for everything from the MB3 to the VFD setup to the detailed spindle bearing break-in procedure. You just don’t see this kind of service these days.
I cannot say enough positive remarks about Chris’s business ethics. In this day and age, it is truly refreshing to be able to work with someone like Chris.

Transformed my Grizzly Mill
this setup took my mill from being a cute toy in my garage to a total powerhouse. the motor absolutely rips through material, the spindle cartridge upgrade for the bearings is so smooth that i can balance a nickel on the head of the machine at any RPM. my production time was cut by 2/3 compared to the stock motor. Tool changes are easy as pie now, so i’ve even added a tool to my workflow to chamfer, since it doesn’t actually add much time to the process. 10 out of 10, can’t imagine life without it.

Incredible quality and service!
Been eyeballing one of these kits for my CNC-converted G0704 for awhile now. Have heard a lot of folks saying the upgrade was great, but Chris exceeded my already high expectations!
As soon as I ordered the kit, Chris added me on Facebook and messaged me to let me know the timeline of him shipping out the kit and to offer any assistance if needed during assembly. Throughout the process, Chris kept me up to date on progress in getting everything ready to ship, including photos of the parts in production. When I received the kit, the parts he machined looked even better than they did in the photos. The aluminum parts dang near look like they’re chromed, the surface finish is so nice. All edges were nicely deburred and all of the parts fit beautifully. The parts were packaged extremely well with items being individually heat-sealed in packets with photos showing exactly where they should be installed, etc.
Definitely don’t hesitate to order one of these kits! Having it installed now, I wish I would’ve ordered it years ago 🙂

This is My Kit, I am Biased, but i really love how it Works and Performs on the G0704!
Full Disclosure, I am the designer/creator of this kit and am of course biased. My appreciation for this kit comes from many trials, improvements, failures, and many years of testing to find a solution that made using the machine for small scale production reliable, fast (relatively speaking), and very capable of machining parts that I could have confidence in to market. I used this G0704 with this kit design for almost a decade as my primary production machine and now currently as a second op machine and prototype machine for product development. The upgraded G0704 is a very capable machine once set up correctly. The spindle drive kit offers a very nice increase in power capability, spindle speed and the use of the power drawbar makes tool changes much easier and faster. The part finishes off of this machine are every bit as good as what i get from my larger VMC and tolerances are great thanks to upgrading to the very rigid precision tapered roller bearing configuration along with low vibration and extremely low runout at the tool. If your plan is to do light or small scale production with your machine and process reliability has been an issue, this is the direction you should consider to achieve those goals. The span of time between iterations from stock to this final variation was filled with disapointment. so much so that i almost gave up. once i ran the upgraded spindle for the first time i was immediately impressed but still wary from my previous experiences. After the first month of using the machine with these upgrades I began to trust its long term viability and have not been let down since. if you have questions or owould like to chat please don’t hesitate to reach out.
